Gripper

The process of compressing the bound fabric on the pipe is physically demanding on the hands. We have developed a tool – a ‘Gripper’ - to aid this stage in the process.

The Gripper enables the artist to increase the complexity of construction and number of layers of fabric that can be pleated successfully using Arashi techniques.

They are made of high quality plastic, and are robust and durable. They are adjustable, so that they canbe expanded to close around many layers of fabric being wrapped on the pipe.

Grippers are available in two sizes, to fit the two available sizes of pipe, 110mm and 160mm.
